PAL welcomes new members and rolls out plans for the year

The Plumbing Association of Lakeside (PAL) has welcomed its new members in its annual membership luncheon, this time held at Encinitas. The PAL has inducted 35 new licensed plumbers and plumbing contractors into their organization, which is a prestigious association of local Lakeside plumbers that has been established in 1988.

The PAL is known to be a strict organization who are only accepting members who have had five years of experience plus a referral from an existing member. It also has a consumer advocacy wherein it will try to resolve complaints filed against a member in order to keep the customers happy, and their member's record, tarnish-free.

During the induction ceremonies, Luke Petersen, President of the PAL welcomed all the new members into their fold, and gave them a peek of what to expect as members of the esteemed organization. Among the benefits of being a member of the organization includes discounted rates on continuous education and training, through special courses at members' rate, special seminars, trainings and forums conducted by industry experts and senior members.

An annual safety seminar is also conducted by the PAL as well as a members' fair for personal protective equipment, and safety tools and equipment meant for plumbers and contractors.

During the ceremonies, the PAL also discussed the activities for the year. Apart from the charity fun run, the PAL also mentioned about the annual cycling meet for members and their family and friends. These two sporting and leisure activities, according to Petersen, are much awaited as they foster camaraderie, and is done purely for fun - to take the members' mind off their usual eight-to-five grind including emergency calls. The PAL also unveiled their charity event for the year which will this time involve deserving youth who are interested to pursue a career in plumbing but do not have the financial means to take courses and trainings. "This year's charity event will be made through a first-ever fun run activity that will be open to our members, their friends and clients. We will be giving away the scholarship to at least five deserving students. We will be asking them to write an essay, and we will be judging the entries accordingly. A background check will also be made to ensure that the entrant is indeed not capable financially to support his plumbing education and license processing. What we want here is that after they have finished their course, and they have underwent their apprenticeship, they can already process their licenses and become full-fledged plumbers ready to tackle their day-to-day work," Petersen says.

The PASD is a 300-member organization that has been known in the country for having the most prompt and reliable expert plumbers.
